Governing Boards

1. Unipersonal governing boards: Direction and Secretariat of IIB-VIU

The functions of the Direction of the Institute are:

  • To perform the ordinary direction and management of the Institute and to execute the resolutions of the Board.
  • To direct, impulse and coordinate the activities of the Institute.
  • To promote mechanisms for evaluating the services provided by the Institute.
  • To administer the assigned budget, taking responsibility for its correct execution.
  • To encourage the relations of the Institute with society.
  • To provide the dissemination of the required documentation to the university community for a better understanding of the Institute aims.

2. IIB-VIU Board

The IIB-VIU Board is the governing and administrative body of the Institute. It is composed by:

  • The Director, who will be the Chairman.
  • The Secretary who will act as Secretary of the Board.
  • All IIB-VIU Group Leaders with permanent affiliation.
  • Doctors without permanent links in a percentage established in the internal regulations of the center.
  • Representatives of the administration, services and non-doctoral research staff of the institute.

The functions of the IIB-VIU Board include:

  • To approve the annual and multi-annual plans of activities of the IIB-VIU.
  • To approve the distribution and execution of the budgets assigned to the IIB-VIU.
  • To establish the application criteria in terms of investigation of the resources assigned to the IIB-VIU.
  • To know the research carried out by IIB-VIU staff and ensure its quality.
  • To accept the affiliation of new members to the IIB-VIU.
  • To promote and develop Doctoral and Postgraduate Programs, in accordance with current regulations.
Advisory bodies

The Valencian International University- VIU has developed a quality policy that promotes the mission, vision, values and statement of corporate principles in terms of quality. To this end, VIU has implemented a Quality Management System, which is also applicable to IIB-VIU.

The IIB-VIU Director will meet at least once a year the IIB-VIU Strategic Lines Commission formed by the Institute's Internal and External Advisory Council. Its objective will be to analyze the correct implementation, management, coordination and monitoring of the strategic lines and the activities planned in the institute. This Commission acts as a guarantor of the quality and innovation of the IIB-VIU, ensuring the development of the objectives included in the annual report of IIB-VIU.

The Committee is chaired by the IIB-VIU Director and is formed by the following internal and external consultants, all of them researchers with a prestigious professional career.

The Internal Advisory Council of the IIB-VIU has the following functions:

  • To analyze the strategic lines of research for the annual and multi-annual plans of the IIB-VIU.
  • To propose new lines of research.
  • To evaluate the quality of the research developed in the institute according to the annual research results of the IIB-VIU.
  • To propose improvements to encourage the research developed at the IIB-VIU.
  • To suggest collaborations with other research centers.
  • To evaluate the participation of the institute and its researchers in regional, national, or international calls.
  • To advise on the collaboration of the Institute's Researchers and the PDI of the Valencian International University for the joint development of research projects.
  • To propose coordinated training, teaching or research actions between the Faculty of Health in VIU and the Institute.
